President Uhuru Kenyatta eulogised the late Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery as an authoritarian, loyal and dedicated leader.
While recalling moments he shared with the late Major General, Uhuru noted that Nkaissery had a spot for those he cared for.
The president further revealed that when he called the late Nkaissery to offer him a CS job in his government, he did not hesitate to accept the offer.
“After we formed the government, I called Nkaissery to join me in building what we had started years back, and the General did not hesitate even five minutes in accepting my offer of becoming Interior CS. He said he was waiting for me to call him so that we could work together,” Uhuru is quoted by a local daily.
Before his appointment, Nkaissery was the Kajiado Member of Parliament under ODM ticket.
Speaking during the late Nkaissery’s memorial service at Nairobi Baptist church, Nairobi, Uhuru noted Nkaissery had played a big role in the security sector.
“He cleaned up the Security ministry and gave me support in organising the security sector, and this is something that I shall never forget. I am going to miss a friend and a colleague. Rest well dear brother and we will continue with where you have left,” the president added.
Nkaissery died July 8, 2017 after reportedly collapsing at his Karen Home, Nairobi. Post-mortem results showed he suffered from an acute myocardial infarction.
The late Kajiado Member of Parliament will be buried at his Bisil home in Kajiado county, Saturday.
