Speaking at her Hurlingham office on Tuesday, KNCHR Chair Kagwiria Mbogori urged the CS to respect the principles of the constitution and its values.

"We urge the CS to desist from this habit and operate within the principles and values of the constitution that binds all state organs," said Kagwiria.

At the same time Kagwiria indicated that the commission had commenced investigations into the police conduct during anti-IEBC protests on Monday.

"The actions by the security agents constitutes serious violations of human rights, the constitution and the rule of law and amounts to claw back of our democratic gains," she added.

This comes after police were caught on camera during the protests brutally assaulting a man who has come to be identified as Boniface Manono from Kibera.

Manono who spoke to the media on Wednesday, said he was not part of the protesters and was just coming from a job appointment when he was caught up in the melee.

"Several police officers beat me up with batons and left me there. I was helpless," Manono said.

The Director of digital communication in the office of the president Dennis Itumbi, had earlier through a tweet contradicted reports from a section of the media that Manono had succumbed to the injuries sustained during the beating.

"Manono is alive and appealing for medical help," reads a part of Itumbi's tweet. He is said to be admitted at Coptic Hospital.
