Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Nkaissery on Monday inspected Kenyatta University ahead of the IAAF youth championships.Nkaissery was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Sports Culture and the Arts Dr Hassan Wario, KU acting Vice chancellor Prof Paul Wainaina, Local Organising Committee (LOC) CEO Mr Mwangi Muthee and other members of the institution.He was taken around the institution where he was showed different areas undergoing renovations including recreation halls, kitchens, and hostels among other areas as preparations for the games continue.The CS inspected the Sh800 million renovations being undertaken at the institutions Nyayo hostels.Nkaissery also inspected the amphitheater and the gymnasium during the tour at the institution.“We are on course to complete the athletes’ village as per IAAF standards and have increased the manpower working around the clock to deliver the games village,” said Wainaina, as quoted by edaily.On his part, the CS assured the president that everything was going according to plan. “I am here to assure you that we will be ready to host the games and all preparations are on course,” he said.The games are set to kick off on July 12.
