The interior cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery has hit on the National Treasury CS, Henry Rotich, together with his permanent secretary.
Nkaissery has accused the two of not having an understanding on national security.
Appearing before the National Assembly’s Committee on Administration and National Security, Nkaissery said he did not understand why Rotich and his office have refused to allow him to manage the money located for police housing.
He spoke of this when he was accompanied by Karanja Kibicho, Micah Powon and the Inspector General of police, Joseph Boinnet. The interior CS also urged the National Treasury to help them push for sh12 billion which his ministry had been denied.
Nkaissery’s ministry had asked for sh21 billion but was only allocated sh9 billion. He complained saying the money needed was well budgeted for and said his ministry could not ask for what they don’t need.
He hit out on the treasury for keeping money which was supposed to be used for development and asked the National Assembly to reject the proposal by the national treasury to slash sh400million from the interior ministry.
