In a telephone interview with a local radio station on Wednesday morning, Nkaissery, who is in Brussels with President Uhuru Kenyatta said that reports of some persons being asked to show identification cards in Kibera area, parts of the Rift Valley region, Western and Nyanza were untrue.

“Not even a single person reported on being prompted to produce their identification documents in order to access their homes or any other places. That is your own creation (referring to the media),” said the Interior CS over the phone.

Nkaissery called on the news agencies and social media users to cease from broadcasting contents that may spark violence or divisions among citizens from various ethnic communities.

“The way the televisions, radios, and even the social media are reporting these things is not helping at all. I request that you kindly take our country forward by preaching unity of our nation instead of utter divisiveness," added Nkaissery.

Reports circulating on social media platforms had on Tuesday indicated that members of some communities were being prevented from accessing certain areas basing on their political affiliations.
