The government has dismissed claims by Cord leader Raila Odinga, that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) is heavily involved in the on-going mass voter registration exercise.
Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Nkaissery termed the allegations as baseless and mere political propaganda meant to misguide Kenyans.
The CS asked Odinga and any other persons with similar claims to provide evidence and record statement with relevant authorities about the same, and avoid seeking political mileage.
Nkaissery noted the government wants to see Kenya remaining stable before, during and after the August elections by having credible elections.
"Such claims will polarise the country. We are going into elections and we want credible elections and peaceful Kenya. Let them produce evidence to support their claims, to relevant institutions,'' he said, Tuesday.
He however asked the new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) team to ensure proper investigations are done to ascertain Cord leader's claims.
During his voter registration campaign tour in Kilifi, Odinga warned NIS from involving in the enlisting of voters, saying he had evidence to support the allegations.
