Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery insists that the police are at liberty to handle any citizen who breaks the law regardless of their societal status.
Nkaissery also vowed to defend the oath he took to protect the constitution by unleashing law enforcers to individuals who are out to distabilise the country.
Eelier, opposition leader Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka had intensified calls to the interior CS to desist from applying excessive force when handling peaceful protestors.
“I worked in the disciplined forces for many years and also as a parliamentarian. I know the law and I will always defend it whenever I fell that it is being breached,” he said.
“No one is immune from the rule of law. My sole duty is to ensure the laws are adhered to failure to which I will do my job which I am paid for. I won’t spare anyone be it those from government,” added Nkaissery.
