Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery has warned Cord leader Raila Odinga against mixing politics with security matters.
This is after Odinga claimed that the Interior Ministry had warned Chief's against siding with the opposition.
On Monday, in a statement sent to newsrooms through spokesperson Mwenda Njoka, Nkaiseery denied the allegations.
"We wish to set the record straight that at no time has Nkaiserry ever bullied or intimidated chiefs or any other cadre of officers in the national administration," said Njoka.
Njoka added that Odinga's comments were meant to gain political mileage but not for the good of the country.
"We would like to urge the former premier not to mix security matters. He should let administrators and security agents carry out their duties without undue political interference," added Njoka.
