Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho has said that the sudden death of CS Joseph Nkiassery will not compromise security preparations before and during the elections.

According to Kibicho, the ministry will ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully.

He said the peaceful election will be in honour of the late CS who passed away on Saturday morning after having a heart attack.

"We will honour Nkaissery by ensuring that the elections are peaceful and this is our pledge and farewell to him as the ministry and a nation," he said.

He was speaking on Wednesday when he led the ministry's staff to give their condolences to Nkaiserry's family.

Kibicho said the August 8 general election will be "violence-free" in honor of his departed boss Joseph Nkaissery.
