Nakuru County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha has called for professionalism and cooperation as he strives towards a better region.

In his speech after taking over the helm of the county’s security team on Thursday, Nkanatha asked all concerned officers to play their part in ensuring a crime free county.

“Crime hinders productivity, innovation and entrepreneurship by enslaving youth to that which can never offer lasting solutions, let’s eliminate this vice by encouraging youth empowerment,” he noted.

He stressed the importance of community policing noting that such approaches had yielded positive results in different areas and Nakuru was not any different.

He called for a collective approach in taming crime which he touted to ensure everyone feels part of the desired change.

“Law enforcers may not be necessarily available at every crime scene, as a patriotic citizen, alerting officers on any criminal activity at your disposal is the surest way of ensuring all crime perpetrators get by the law,” he said.

Nkanatha takes over from Mohammed Birik in a countrywide reshuffle that saw the National Police Service in conjunction with the Security and Internal Coordination ministry transfer senior security agents in a move geared towards fighting insecurity.

Ever since the country adopted a devolved system of government, Nkanatha is the second officer to serve in the capacity of county commissioner in Nakuru County after Birik.
