Despite being given an okay to be part of Joseph Nkassery’s burial on Saturday, Kajiado Governor David Nkedienye and Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi kept a low profile in the funeral.

The two politicians had been barred from accessing Nkaissery’s compound last week on unknown grounds.

However, Nkaissery’s widow Hellen Nkaissery on Thursday maintained that no one would be barred from attending the funeral.

But in a clear breach of protocol, the two decided to take a low profile despite traditionally expected to welcome political leaders to the region.

They took back seats and were not recognized by organizers of the even at Nkaissery’s Bisil home, in which a host of politicians attended.

Few kilometers from the region, Memusi had presided over the funeral ceremony of another Maasai elder John Keen, on the virtue that he is the area MP.

Upon his death, it emerged that Nkaissery had threatened to sue the two politicians over claims that they had linked him to the burning of ODM Kajiado offices.

Memusi inherited the seat from Nkaissery in 2015 after the former was appointed to serve as Internal Security minister.
