NLC Chairman Dr Mohamed Swazuri says currently, a team led by surveyors is monitoring such encroachments in schools and other public places as they wait to take action.

Swazuri says the demolition will start in two weeks’ time once the surveyors have completed their ground work to identify areas that have been grabbed by individuals.

Speaking at the Kisumu lands office while assessing the reviews, Dr Swazuri says those who have also blocked access of roads within the county will also face the demolitions.

He says they have noticed that people have also encroached and blocked several paths into lake Victoria even fish landing sites adding that such are also being reviewed and action will be taken.

“Those who have encroached in schools, hospitals and beach landing sites will have to be forcefully evicted once the assessment is through,” he said.

The NLC boss also noted that they will survey the Wawidhi area and Namthoe after which they intend to give over 20, 000 title deeds to individuals.

He says the team has embarked on a program on declaration of mediation of lands which have had serious problems in sections of Kisumu County.
