The Nation land Commission will start investigating problems facing Mutukanio Land Buying Company in Kiptangwany, Gilgil.
This follows delayed issuance of title deeds to 3,000 members of the company, 37 years since it was formed.
NLC Coordinator for Rift Valley region Frank Kidelekenya, who attended a members’ meeting in Kiptangwany on Wednesday, said that it is unfortunate that residents of Kiptangwanyi have not been issued with title deeds since they moved to the area.
“The commission will try and come up with ways of helping the 3,000 residents without necessarily going to courts. We will also be investigating allegations levelled against the directors of the farm over charging title deed fees,” said Kidelekenya.
He added that NLC only charges Sh 250 for the title deed.
A member, Joseph Kamau, said that the company has been riddled with graft in the hands of directors who demand unrealistic amounts of money.
He called on the NLC to get to the bottom of the matter and name those behind the corruption.
But in a text message, the current Chairman Nelson Chambi dismissed the allegations as political “kicks of a dying horse”.
He however declined to comment more on the issue.
