A public land audit by the National Land Commission (NLC) in Kisii County is ready for release to the public.

The commission will hold a meeting and invite, residents, leaders, and stakeholders to inform them on the state of the public land.

Kisii County Executive Member in charge of Land docket, Moses Onderi, disclosed that digitalization of land records at the registry was complete, as had been directed by the national government.

Onderi who spoke to the media at his office on Thursday said the move had sealed loopholes which cartels used to exploit in conducting illegal transactions.

The Lutheran Outreach community-based organization secretary Steven Obiri said the cartels had regrouped to fight back.

Obiri named some plots wit questionable registration status.

He claimed that the cartels were planning to grab the parcels of land.

The secretary attributed the current developments at the registry to delay by the NLC in exposing land grabbers for legal action.
