Calls by the opposition to boycott some of the country's top companies' products and services might lead to the collapse of the nation's economy, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has warned.
Speaking in Turbo Sub-county on Tuesday, Mandago said if National Supper Alliance (NASA) supporters heed to boycott calls by their leaders, the targeted companies might collapse.
"People should understand that if a company like Safaricom collapses that is owned by the government, over 10 million people will be rendered jobless," said the Jubilee governor.
"The economy benefits all of us and as patriotic citizens, we need to guard it not sabotage," he added.
The vocal governor, however, hailed NASA supporters in the county for ignoring calls to boycott some of the products and services.
"We've NASA people in this county but we are glad nothing has been boycotted. Everything is going on as usual. We are only hearing of boycott areas like Siaya Kisumu and Homabay," said Mandago.
