President Uhuru Kenyatta has cautioned all aspirants eyeing elective positions for the coming general elections on the Jubilee Party against expecting favors from him or the party top leadership in terms of direct nominations.
Speaking in a rally in Kiambu County Wednesday, the President said that the party is based on democracy and operates under the wishes of Kenyans and the hopefuls have no choice but to battle it out in the primaries to secure a ticket.
''Nobody will be issued with a a certificate until the party nominations are over.We believe in democracy and all aspirants will have to go through the people before securing a ticket,'' said Kenyatta who is the party leader.
The President also said that the nominations will be free and fair maintaining that only the winners will carry the day.
''Whoever is preferred by the people will be given the nod by the party. The losers will also be embraced by the party for their loyalty but should not expect any favors,'' he said.
Kenyatta also bashed ODM party leader Raila Odinga who recently gave direct nomination certificates to the party aspirants who were considered unopposed saying that the former President was hasty in decision making, a decision that could lock other candidates out of the race.
''Raila is busy dishing out certificates on first come first serve basis, this is a dangerous action which we will not be practiced in Jubilee,'' said Kenyatta.
