Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, a Nairobi governorship aspirant, has downplayed claims that the party is divided over the candidate to field for the post.

Addressing the press at the party’s headquarters, Kenneth said the team is united, adding that they are committed to ensuring that the incumbent Evans Kidero does not retain power after the forthcoming general polls.

Kenneth is set to battle it out with other 'Team Nairobi' aspirants including Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko.

Kenneth, who has been termed outsider, turned at the headquarters of the party accompanied by several Jubilee-affiliated MPs within the county.

Kidero also said that having different political ideologies does not mean you are divided as their opponents have been claiming.

“We, as the Jubilee team, are one team and we will square it out in the nominations with a common goal to remove Kidero. Having diversity in the team does not mean we are divided,” said Kenneth.

On his part, Kidero has insisted that he will beat any candidate President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto will front for the seat during the forthcoming general elections.
