Ganze Member of Parliament Teddy Mwambire has asked locals not participate in the repeat presidential election slated for October 26.

Speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kilifi County, Mwambire asked residents not to go to the ballot because it would be a sign of legitimizing the Jubilee regime.

"What is the reason of participating in elections that even the IEBC chairman himself does not believe will be free and fair? No election will take place in Ganze," the MP said.

IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati on Wednesday said the commission was sharply divided and therefore could not guarantee credible polls next week.

His remarks came hours after Commissioner Roselyne Akombe resigned citing frustrations in the electoral agency.

"The commission in its current state can surely not guarantee a credible election on October 26, 2017. I do not want to be party to such a mockery to electoral integrity," she said in her resignation letter.
