Issuing a brief on the drought situation Friday, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Hon Eugene Wamalwa said the government was doing all within its means to amicably address the situation.

"As a government, we want to assure all Kenyan citizens that no life has so far been lost or will even be lost as a result of this drought. The ministry will take relief food supplies to all the affected regions as we forge forward on permanent mitigation strategies," he said.

He  further said that his ministry had since categorized the ASAL counties basing on the severeness of the drought situation."All those that require serious and urgent mitigation initiatives were Isiolo, Tana River, and Garissa counties. We have already dispatched a team to the said counties and assessed the situation. Not a single life has been lost as a result of the natural calamity."
