Hospital Ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi has called on garbage collectors contracted to collect garbage in various estates in his ward to clear all the garbage ahead of the festive season.
Wamwangi, speaking in Ziwani on Tuesday, noted that there was a lot of uncollected garbage in Umoja, Majengo, Ofafa among other estates which posed a health risk to residents.
"As we usher in the festive season celebrations, we want to do so in a clean, healthy environment. Garbage collectors who have been delaying to collect garbage from residents and take it to the dumpsite must know that there will be no holiday for them till all the garbage is cleared," Wamwangi said.
The MCA warned that the garbage collectors who do not comply may risk losing their licences come January next year.
"Service delivery and efficiency is what we shall focus on come January 2016 going forward. You cannot continue being paid for delivering poor services and expect us to be pleased with you. We will ask the county government to review the licences and strike out the non-performing garbage collectors," he stated.
