Students graduating in agricultural courses will have to tarmac for years before securing jobs within the game.

This comes after Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett said that the national government has no posts to accommodate these students despite agriculture being the backbone of the Kenyan economy.

According to the CS, the graduates are expected to use the skills they have acquired from schooling to create jobs rather than look them over years.

Bett, who was speaking during a graduation ceremony at Bukura Agricultural College, noted that the government does not have the capacity to offer jobs to technicians as well as managers despite the high number of graduates from the Kenyan universities and technical institutions of learning.

He called upon the graduates to be creative and innovative rather than just sitting there to wait for white collar jobs to come their way.

He also noted that the government has plans to unveil new transformation and growth strategy aimed at attracting the Kenyan youths into this sector.

“The new strategy is focused on facilitating the youth to ensure they take agriculture to the next level and will replace the current development strategy, which has been in operation for a long time,” he said, as quoted by Standard.
