Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has spelt out tough conditions for Ukambani residents’ support of the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) in next year’s general election.
Wavinya, who spoke in Yatta constituency Saturday, threatened that the Kamba nation will withdraw its support for the main opposition coalition should they fail to pick Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka as the coalition’s presidential candidate.
“We are sending a clear message to Cord that we as Ukambani voting bloc are firmly behind Kalonzo’s presidential bid and should he not be picked as the Cord’s flag bearer we will withdraw our support for the coalition entirely,” she warned.
She also maintained she would be contesting for the Machakos gubernatorial seat against Governor Alfred Mutua.
Last week, Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala while launching a mass civic education drive in Masinga also announced he will be in the race to challenge Dr Mutua.
