The demand by government offices for job seekers to table clearance certificates from the Director of Criminal Investigations, Higher Education Loans Board, Kenya Revenue Authority and the Credit Bureau Reference might come to an end after parliament endorsed a motion allowing job applicants to do so without the papers.
The motion will compel the national and county governments to stop asking for the papers as a condition for consideration.
Recently, the Nakuru County Assembly Public Service Board advertised for vacancies and asked applicants to attach the above mentioned certificates.
This, an applicant told this writer, forced her to fork out up to Sh7000 as charges, fare to offices and cyber charges to be able to have the certificates.
Nyandarua Women Rep Faith Gitau said the requirements locks out many youths who have no cash to apply for the papers.
