Even as numerous challenges threaten to choke the electorate, politicians have already switched off to election and campaign modes. To expect new developments in the counties, constituencies or even wards is like day dreaming.
Garissa politicians are already in this mode. The daily rallies and inspection of non-existent projects is an indicator that time has come for politicians to pretend and fake projects to win the hearts of the shallow minded citizens.
And as it is said, any aspiring politician always looks at the next general election while the desperate statesmen looks at the next generations.
With less than a year to the next general elections, both the experienced and inexperienced leaders have already effected their political alignments and some realignments.
At a glance, it evident that our politicians are more concerned with the outcome of the elections than the current problems debilitating the common citizen.
A number of Garissa constituents are now living with uncertainty. There is an acute water shortage for domestic usage, leave alone the drought that is threatening to wipe out all the herds of the pastoral communities.
The regional politicians are also on the ground and none of them has dared to publicly speak on the emerging issues. Everything is politicized, including a disaster.
