Tanzanian authorities in the capital city Dar es Salaam have pulled the sign for a street named after Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama.

The street was named after Wanyama on Saturday.

"Street names are recommended by committees who then present the suggestion to settings of the Ward Development Committee

"If the WDC approve the name is forwarded to the Committee of Finance, Councillor's Committee, Dar es Salaam City Council, Regional Consultative Committee and the office of the regional head then published in a gazette notice," it said in a statement on Sunday.
