A section of leaders affiliated to Amani National Congress (ANC) has disagreed with Cord leader Raila Amolo Odinga and Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka combination for the National Super Alliance (NASA).
Speaking on Saturday, the leaders said that there is no combination that will smoke out President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto if it does not include their boss, Musalia Mudavadi.
The leaders who included MPs Alfred Agoi (Sabatia), Yusuf Chanzu, (Vihiga) Vihiga assembly speaker Dan Chitwa, MCAs Albert Wetundu (Shirungu Mungai) Cleophas Malala (Mahiakalo), Abdallah Chogo (Central Maragoli) and Venna Kaisha (Nominated) insisted that Mudavadi is the right man to unseat Jubilee from power in August.
According to the leaders, Raila and Kalonzo will lose to Jubilee the same way they did in the last General polls.
“The two cannot get 80 per cent of the votes from this region without involving Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula, who are the way to the heart of the Luhyas,” Agoi said, as quoted by the Star.
The legislator argued that the alliance should name someone with the ability to deliver the seat in August, adding that Mudavadi is the best bet for the opposition.
“We don’t want a strong candidate. We want a strategic candidate. Raila should help us take President Uhuru Kenyatta home. That’s the reason we formed NASA," added the leader.
On his part, Wetundu claimed that former Prime Minister is known for defeat, adding that they can not entrust their votes with a perennial loser. “Raila is a perennial loser, I will not wake up in the morning to vote for him,” he said.
