There is no need for dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his main challenger Raila Odinga of NASA over the fresh presidential election.
According to former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, the increasing calls for talks by the Opposition and some lobbies is a conspiracy to delegitimise the repeat poll set for Thursday, October 26, 2017.
"What is there for NASA and Jubilee to discuss at this critical point of the electioneering period? What would be the purpose of that dialogue, with only a few days left to a legally constituted poll?" he posed.
In an opinion piece published by the Nation on Tuesday, Waweru emphasized that the best dialogue the country can have is an election.
"The only dialogue Jubilee can have with the Opposition coalition now is on maintaining peace during the October 26 election. Nothing more, nothing less," he stated.
The former lawmaker added: "The October 26 poll is itself the best form of dialogue among Kenyans. Any other option is a one-way ticket to doom and uncertainty for the country we have struggled to build."
