Machakos senator Johnson Muthama has rubbished claims that Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is no longer UKambani political kingpin.
According to Muthama, Kalonzo is still Ukambani political leader.
The senator, who spoke during at Garsen grounds during Wiper party tour of Tana River County on Thursday, said that Musyoka is the political figure for Ukambani region.
“Those claiming that Kalonzo is no longer Ukambani political kingpin are only dreaming,” he said.
The senator claimed that some junior politicians are claiming to be Kamba kingpin.
He said that no one can match Kalonzo’s political game in Ukambani.
“Kalonzo remains Ukambani political leader and that is not going to change any time soon,” he said.
The rise of Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has caused tension among Ukambani politicians with some regarding him as the new Ukambani kingpin.
The Machakos governor has heard differences with Muthama and Kalonzo ever since being elected in 2013.
Political analysts say that Mutua’s political star is steadily rising and could become Ukambani region’s political kingpin.
Mutua has been closely working with the Jubilee government a move that has angered Wiper members and Cord fraternity at large.
With his new Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement, Mutua is said to be gaining influence in the Kamba region.
