Education CS, Fred Matiang'i has said that he will not rank schools and candidates who sat for KCPE despite requirements by the law.
The CS stated that there had not been enough time for his ministry to implement the Kenya National Examination Amendment Bill that was passed in August this year.
He added that his ministry was liaising with other relevant government departments to ensure that the law is implemented before the release of next year's results.
He said this as he released the results of this year's KCPE examination, which he did in a surprise move that broke away from the tradition of releasing results after Chrismas.
The CS added that admission letters for this year's candidates will be sent before the 25th of December.
Dr. Matiang'i further said that the government will pay fees for all candidates from both public and private schools in 2017.
He however warned those who registered several exam centers in one institution saying that they will face the full wrath of the law. Matiang'i reiterated that exams will only be conducted in approved centers.
"Students who scored above 400 marks will also secure a place in national schools of their choice". he added.
The top candidate this year managed a score of 439 marks out of 500, a 10 point drop from last year's 449.
