Kiambu County women representative has told the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka that they may not get their retirement benefits that they have been yearning for.
Speaking to Journalists in Kiambu Town today, Hannah Gatheca said that the two are still in active politics and therefore their retirement package may not be forthcoming.
However, she says that the matter is before the National Assembly which will decide on the way forward.
"Retirement means that you have left your employment and gone home and therefore you start earning the benefits of that. So, for Raila and Kalonzo to ask for retirement benefits when they are still seeking to be elected is wrong,” said Gatheca.
Gatheca has asked the duo to seek the packages after they retire for good.
"When that motion comes to the National Assembly and we define 'retirement', I do not see them getting the packages,” she said.
The National Treasury want Parliament to make a supplementary provision allowing the two to receive their benefits as the positions they served in have since been scrapped by the new constitution.
