Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa has hit out at Deputy President William Ruto, saying Jubilee has no place in the area.
Speaking on Tuesday at a rally in Kiminini Town during Ruto's tour of the region, Wamalwa said Trans Nzoia county is an Opposition stronghold.
“Your excellency, we love you and we appreciate the projects initiated by Jubilee in this county but the truth of the matter is this is an Opposition zone and JP should stop wasting its time trying to lure residents,” said Wamalwa, as quoted by the Standard.
The MP further criticised the government's laptop project, saying Masaba Primary school, where the DP's chopper was supposed to land had not received the computers.
Ruto was forced to land at the Kitale Members Club after opposition supporters barricaded the road leading to Masaba Primary School.
This is the second time the DP has faced a hostile crowd, after youth chanting pro-Nasa slogans blocked him from addressing a rally in Bungoma town on Monday.
Ruto, however, rubbished the MP's sentiments, saying the residents were of a different view.
“What do you mean that Jubilee has no room here? That is your personal statement and does not represent the feeling of the locals,” said Ruto, as quoted by the daily.
County women rep Janet Nangabo criticised the MP's move, accusing him of paying youth to heckle the DP.
