Women in Jubilee strongholds have been advised to prevent their husband from enjoying their conjugal rights if they do not register as voters in the ongoing mass voter listing process.
Speaking after a church service in Murang'a County on Sunday, Dagoretti North MP Dennis Waweru urged women to play an active role in making sure their men get voter's card.
"If your husband or boyfriend refuses to pick a voter's card, don't let them enjoy their conjugal rights. Do not also give them food until they register," he said.
Waweru, an aspirant for Nairobi governor's seat, asked community leaders and administration officers to champion mobilisation and voter registration ahead of August 8 polls.
"We need to ensure all our youth are sensitised to participate in the 2017 elections. They will only do so if they register as voters during this one-month long exercise," said the legislator.
The MP was in the company of other leaders who included nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Senate Majority Leader Kithure Kindiki and Murang’a Women Representative, Sabina Chege.
