Ruiru member of Parliament Esther Gathogo caused laughter on Saturday when she urged women to deny their husbands sex if they do not support women in the 2017 general election.
Speaking at CCM Makongeni Church hall, Thika, Gathogo told wives to deny their spouses conjugal rights unless they accord political support to female candidates seeking various positions in next year's polls.
“This time we should be bold and tell our men enough is enough. If they refuse to support women then deny them sexual favours,” she said as quoted by Mediamaxnetwork.
The event, organised by a caucus of Jubilee female legislators dubbed ‘Women for Women’, was to drum up support for Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a re-election.
The use of sex in Kenyan political campaigns has recently escalated as the country prepares for the 2017 General Election.
Early this year, Nominated Senator Emma Mbura urged women to deny their husbands sex for a week if they frustrate their efforts to register to vote.
