Gatundu North Sub County is the only constituency that has never been visited by a sitting president.
The National Alliance (TNA) chairman in the area Anthony Macharia said on Thursday that poor leadership in the constituency was to blame.
He revealed that there were cartels in the sub county which hindered the president to visit the area which neighbours his home sub county.
His sentiment comes a few weeks after Gatundu North MP Francis Kigo Njenga announced that Uhuru would visit the area to flag off construction of Gatukuyu-Mataara road.
The chairman who also happens to be the organizing secretary for TNA in Kiambu County dismissed claims that Uhuru would visit the area in July citing that Kigo was not the right person to announce the visit but the county commander.
“The party officials have not been informed. The procedure used in presidential visits has not been followed conclusively as the visit is legally supposed to be announced by the county commander who extends the announcement to sub county commanders and political party officials informed. I don’t think Uhuru will be visiting,” argued Macharia.
Macharia noted that Gatundu North was the richest sub county in the country but the leadership was failing full resources exploitation lamenting that coffee, tea and milk farmers have suffered lot.
“Gatundu North is an extension of heaven but it’s being made part of hell by leadership,” stressed Macharia.
Macharia appealed to Gatundu North residents to wisely elect an effective and development oriented candidate whom he said should serve whole heartedly to better the lives of electorates in the area.
Meanwhile, the chairman asked Kiambu county leadership to exercise optimism on investments made in the county and ensure citizens are not left suffering.
“Nairobi is eating Kiambu County whereby rich men from Nairobi are buying our lands cheaply for mega projects. Investors are taking the advantage of illiteracy among Kiambu residents to buy farms cheaply evacuating desperate residents from their ancestral land. The dams that are built in our county are national developments geared towards enriching people from other counties and stabilising their lives. This has left many who sell their lands for such projects landless and are left to purchase invaluable lands,” said Macharia.
“I am urging the county leadership to harmonise investment opportunities especially the land selling for construction of malls to salvage the landless situation of the next generation,” added TNA chairman.
He pledged to fight for the rights of the common using his political power.
