Maseno University Vice Chancellor, Prof Dominic Makawiti, has said that there will be no students’ elections soon.
This comes two weeks after the Students elections were marred by interruptions. This, according to Student Organisation of Maseno University's (SOMU) constitution means that the old office, which was dissolved more than a month ago has been reinstated back to office.
The constitution states that the current student leaders should remain in office until such a time when the varsity will be ready for another student elections. Some students welcomed the news warmly while others blamed the administration for failing to cater for their yearly democratic rights.
Many students have shown discontent with the way the varsity's administration has dealt with the issue of the election malpractices that took place.
So far, nobody has been questioned since the elections were brought to a halt, and the responsible fellows who interrupted the process have not been brought to book.
