On Friday Dr Fred Matiang'i was listed by President Uhuru among the Cabinet Secretaries who will be retained in the new team.

Matiang'i was appointed as the Interior and Coordination of National Governement cabinet secretary.

Some few hours after his appointment, Mating'i went ahead and changed his title on his social media handles announcing that he was heading the Ministry of Education on a temporary basis.

The permanent shift to the position of Ministry of Interior will be received with mixed reactions after Matiang'i was noted as one of the best performing CS because of the many reforms he has implemented.

The CS has restored the credibility of national exams and because of this various leaders including the Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula called for his resignation because more students were failing their exams.

He was appointed to the interior docket after the passing on of the late Joseph Nkaissery and he positively took up the role as he was responsible for ensuring the peace and security during the election period.

He has been blamed for giving a go ahead on the ruthlessness of the police against Opposition supporters.

Matiang'i on Thursday told off those opposed to the transfer of school principals stating that their actions reflect barbarism.

The mentality that people must work in their home areas  is one of the reasons that Kenya is yet to attain its national integration according to the CS.
