Kisii County officer in charge of Education Amos Andama has said that no school across the county will be allowed to conduct holiday tuition.
Andama on Friday said teachers should allow pupils and students to rest at their homes since the government doesn’t recognize tuition.
“Teachers should stop being selfish to get money using shortcuts. No pupil or student will be allowed to be in school during the long April holiday. The school calendar must be followed failure to which teachers who will be found conducting holiday tuition will be dealt with according to the education laws,” he said.
He called on education officials in the county to cooperate and report any school forcing pupils and students to attend the outlawed holiday tuition.
Andama urged private primary and secondary schools to adhere to the education rules failure to which the institutions will be closed down.
“Most private schools have a tendency of conducting holiday tuition but I am sending a tough warning to private schools management against conducting the outlawed exercise because the education ministry will not be lenient on offenders,” he added.
