Hundreds of Nyachwa residents have threatened to boycott mass voter registration should the Kisii County government fail to solve water shortage in the region.
Their threats comes barely two days after Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga toured the region to sensitize locals on the ongoing voter registration.
Led by Evans Obwocha, they accused the county government of going silent over the matter despite reporting it several weeks ago.
"It is needless to come telling us to register and vote yet we can't access basic services like clean water. Our problem must be fixed before we rethink of registering in numbers," he said.
"We are tired of being used by politicians. None of them has our interests at heart. We shall retaliate by avoiding voter registration centers," he added.
On Thursday, Governor James Ongwae said his government keen to ensure all residents register as voters to propel opposition leader Raila Odinga to State House in August.
