Health Cabinet Secretary Dr Cleopa Mailu has dismissed claims that the government resolved to hire doctors from India and Cuba, to replace striking doctors in the Country.
He asked the media to be responsible in its reporting, and emphasised that president Uhuru Kenyatta's recent visit to Gujarat India was strictly a State Visit.
He said Uhuru's talks with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched on investments, and trade partnership and not to look for doctors.
Addressing the press, Friday, Mailu said the government would nolonger hold any negotiations with the striking doctors, if they still decline the 40 per cent pay hike offered by the government.
Mailu noted the government had extended the time for resolving the doctors’ dispute from 60 to 90 days and asked doctors to accept the government's return to work formula.
The formula should be concluded by the parties within 90 days from 60 days, as stipulated in law and not later than April 15, 2017.
