Gatundu North sub county noise regulation officerMartin Kimani has lauded religious leaders in the area for their cooperation in the reduction of noise pollution in the area.

Speaking from Kamwangi social hall during a government departments meeting on Wednesday, Kimani observed that laws prohibiting excessive noise were in place, and lauded religious organizations for adhering to the regulations.

"You have always sought guidance whenever you have religious functions that require the use of Public address equipment. This is a major achievement with regard to our environment management. Thank you again for your cooperation," he told the religious leaders.

Kimani asked area residents to emulate the action of the religious organizations for a better and safe environment devoid of noise pollution.

He pointed out that the environment Act in the constitution prohibited noise pollution demanding church and other event organisers requiring use of public addresses seek permission on whether or not to.

Kimani warned people operating recreational businesses against loud music, and also asked residents to stop using power saws near schools.

"This goes to other residents and government departmental leaders, let us all learn how to maintain stable noise environment conditions. Kindly for power saws users I ask you to conduct your activities away from schools so as not to interfere with learning activities," he said.

Israel assembly church chairman in the area lauded the cooperation they have been receiving from the government leaders and promised to move on together.
