Boda Boda operators in Kisii County have been warned against making noise with loud music.
Kisii deputy county commissioner Peter Mbugi said such riders will soon be arrested for causing the disturbance.
According to the administrator, loud music played by riders has led to increased motorcycle accidents in the region.
“Accidents involving riders have been on the rise in the recent past. We suspect that loud music played by riders could be the main cause because some riders have been spotted dancing while on their motorbikes and later they end up causing accidents. From next month, only moderate music will be allowed failure to which arrests will be made,” he said.
He added that riders should concentrate on their work and not be playing loud music.
Mbugi said a crackdown will be conducted to arrest those will irritating noise saying such operators will not be on the roads by February.
“Most customers don’t like noise but the riders keep on adding more volume to music wherever their preferred music plays. We will hold meetings with boda-boda riders’ officials to ensure that accidents associated with loud music are curbed,” said Mbugi.
