Nominated Kisumu Senator Joy Gwendo has appealed to Kisumu residents to support her in 2017 General Elections.
The senator was nominated to the senate by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s The National Alliance (TNA) party.
Gwendo told the residents that it was not her party that was going to deliver but her own ideologies.
“I am a proud member of TNA and will not shy away to ask for votes in the next general election on my party’s ticket,” said Gwendo.
“I believe that it is about time Kisumu residents woke up to vote for candidates based on ideologies and not one’s party ticket,” she added.
The nominated senator told our reporter that she was working closely with Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma’s government to ensure that service delivery was offered to residents of the lakeside county.
“We have been in the dark for a long time and this is the time to wake up and elect leaders who can help fight for devolution to be greatly felt in Kisumu,” said Gwendo.
“I am working closely with Women Representative Rose Nyamunga to ensure that our women and youth are empowered through a number of projects aimed at creating self-employment to them,” added the senator.
She however declined to comment on Kisumu Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o when she was asked to comment on the senator’s performance.
“I believe in competition and it is the people of Kisumu who will elect their next senator,” said the legislator.
