Nominated Senator Emma Mbura.
With the period of political defections gaining momentum, the Jubilee Party is set to suffer another setback after Nominated Senator Emma Mbura hinted at ditching it.
Mbura has given all indications that she will be bolting out of the party amid claims that the party is planning to endorse her opponent for the Rabai Parliamentary seat.
According to Mbura who spoke to the Star she has been frustrated by the party for allegedly preferring a weaker candidate to her even as she shops for a new party which she intends to use to unseat Rabai MP William Kamoti.
The lawmaker further claimed that the party has already settled for ODM MCA Anthony Kenga as a candidate to face Kamoti.
"Up to last week, Kenga had been insulting JP, calling them thieves. All of a sudden, he has been picked. Why should I wait to be bundled out?" she said.
The Senator's fear of unfair primaries have been compounded by the fact that she has fallen out with Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro who is Jubilee Party's key figure at the Coast region.
Should Mbura make good her threats to ditch the party, it will be a big blow to President Uhuru Kenyatta who is trying to make inroads in the region that overwhelmingly voted for the opposition in 2013 in his bid to get a share of the votes to springboard his second term bid.
