Nakuru County nominated Senator, Hon Liza Chelule clashed with Leader of Majority of Bomet County Assembly, Stephen Changmorik and MCA Hellen Taplelei Rotich, at a fundraiser event last Saturday in Wamkong, Kiptagich in Kuresoi South.
The two MCAs had been sent by Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, the Chama Cha Mashinani party leader. Chelule, however, snatched the microphone and said in vernacular that Nakuru is a Jubilee zone.
“Nakuru County ko Jubilee damu so mokitoche ako mokikochi napas toekab Chama Cha Mashetani en koroni. Ogonun rabinik ak otyol banda obe Bomet. Kwendeni Kabisa! (Nakuru County is a Jubilee zone and we are not going to welcome and entertain these two visitors from Bomet who are supporters of Chama Cha Mashetani. Make your contributions and leave),” she said.
Chelule said the Bomet governor has been tainting the image of Deputy President William Ruto.
"Leave our DP, whom we love, alone,” she said.
The move elicited mixed reactions.
“I find it shocking that Hon Liza could gag, harass and intimidate other leaders simply for not being supporters of a party of her own choice," a resident said.
