MCA's nominated by Wiper Party to the Machakos County Assembly have defended their leader Kalonzo Musyoka against accusations that he snubbed the NASA leader Raila Odinga's swearing in on Tuesday.
Addressing the press in Machakos town on Friday, the MCAs blamed Kalonzo’s political enemies for thwarting the Wiper leader’s plans to be sworn in as the "Deputy People's President" in a bid to create a false narrative that NASA is on its death bed.
The MCA's led by Margaret Mwikali warned supporters against falling for some political leaders tricks of trying to break NASA.
They said that the withdrawal of Kalonzo's security is a clear indication that he couldn't attend the swearing in ceremony.
Mwikali said the Wiper leader should be respected since the circumstances beyond Kalonzo's control prevented him from attending the Uhuru Park event.
“Kalonzo is the Kamba kingpin and he should be respected, the whole community is behind him for better for worse," Mwikali said.
Others present during the briefing were Beneddeta Mumbi, Winnie Mutua, Rozzina Kanini, Angela Munyao among others.
This comes two days after youths from the Lower Eastern Region distanced themselves from Kalonzo for “failing the Kamba community" and pledged their allegiance to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
In his recent speech Governor Mutua had ridiculed the NASA swearing-in ceremony terming it unconstitutional and bound to fail.
