Kiambu county governor William Kabogo has urged Kiambu residents to be more serious in nominations rather than elections to filter the good and bad from the political arena.
Kabogo said that many leaders were wrongly chosen during the nomination due to poor turnout of the voters that allowed wrong choices of leaders to obtain a party’s ticket to vie for the governments’ office.
He expressed his concerns with not only Kiambu leaders but the country as well who acquires Political Party’s ticket without the consent of the majority with only few voters turning up to favor the candidate.
The county boss advocated the residents and society to be more vigilant in nominations as opposed to elections which will definitely favor the candidate at his or her own strong hold.
“If Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) is the stronghold in central area, then a candidate will force himself into the seat just to get the ticket to vie, but if we avail in large number, we will give the ticket to the most appropriate person,” said the governor.
He has called on Independence Electoral Board of Commission (IEBC) to sensitize the residents on importance of nominations as opposed to other election in the country.
Kabogo has called on Party leaders to as well come out handy in informing residents to turn out in large number during the activity to help filter those leaders who think can buy a post to vie for the political seat.
“Leaders can buy people to vote for them but if only Kenyans could avail in large number during nominations, then cases of questionable integrity could not be discussed now,” said Kabogo.
The governor who was speaking on Tuesday in Thika town during the launch of three day symposium on health program in Kiambu County insists that only nomination can save the country from leaders with malicious intentions to hold a public office in Kenya.
