The International Centre for Humanitarian Affairs in conjunction with other key stakeholders who have taken a keen on prevalence of non-communicable diseases.
According to Joseph Kibachio from the Ministry of Health, the report dubbed the global burden of the disease a first of its kind explores challenges the country has faced over the last 23 years in tackling non-communicable diseases.
Kibachio said that non communicable diseases are on the rise as more attention has been given to communicable diseases.
Tom Achoki from the Institute for Health Hospitals noted that obesity is rising especially among women while men lead in smoking related ailments. He also stated that hypertension is leading cause of death among young persons of between 29-44 years.
The report indicates Kenya has made improvements since the 1990s in alleviating the health of children and mothers.
The report focuses on addressing four major non communicable diseases which are cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes.
