Non-local teachers from Garissa County who had requested for transfer over insecurity fears have started reporting to work.
This is after the government through Teachers Service Commission (TSC) rejected their pleas to be transferred following a series of terror attacks witnessed in the North Eastern region late last year.
At Garissa primary school, ten of the eleven non-local teachers reported to work on Monday.
Garissa primary head teacher Amed Abdi has expressed optimism that learning will continue in the school smoothly.
Abdi who confirmed that ten of the non-local teachers at his school reported to work on Monday also welcomed them back and urged them to feel at home and promised the teachers a better environment away from their homes.
Over 1300 non-local teachers from Wajir, Garissa and Mandera County had boycotted duties in the region in the first term over insecurity fears.
The teachers who boycotted duties used all mechanisms to seek for their transfers to even spending days at the TSC offices last term which was all in vain.
This comes at a time when the teachers were not expected to report back to work following the Garissa University attack which claimed 147 students' lives a few weeks ago.
