Famous Kenyan rapper Hubert Mbuku Nakitare aka 'Nonini' has shared his thoughts after his Tanzanian colleague Chidi Benz was detained after being found with heroin on Wednesday.

According to reports the Tanzanian was among seven other people found with the drug after law enforcement received orders from President John Magufuli’s government to raid the area.

“I haven’t gotten in touch with him (Chidi), but I tried calling him in the morning, I couldn’t reach him. I have read from the blogs but I haven’t confirmed,” as reported by The Star.

Nonini shared how he tried to help his friend during his battle with drug addiction.

“I once brought him to Nairobi when he needed treatment na nikampeleka rehab. I just wanted him to get out of the addiction.”

The two artists are well known for their music; especially one collabo called 'Get Down' which was a big hit in 2013.

Nonini stated that he preferes being sober and gives most of his time to music and charity.

“Mimi nimezaliwa mtaani lakini drugs are not my thing. I don’t depend on any high. My high is my music,” he said.

According to reports, this is not new for Chidi who was also caught with drugs at the Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar er Salaam in October of 2014.
