The chairman of the North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB) and Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has said he will lead North Rift governors in making sure that the national government honors its campaign pledges to locals.

The region is set to benefit from projects worth more than Sh150 billion that Jubilee promised.

The sectors that are set to benefit are water, infrastructure, and healthcare.

Which will be spread in Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet and Nandi counties.

“We will work with the national government and other stakeholders to implement the key projects so that our people can improve their lives,” Mandago said as quoted by the Star.

Construction of the Northern bypass in Eldoret is set to begin in the next two months and it is estimated that the project will cost about Sh6 Billion. The project is aimed at decongesting Eldoret town.

The new Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital that will be set up at Kiplombe is another mega project in North Rift. The Chinese government has pledged to support its construction and it is estimated to cost more than Sh50 billion.

“We are in progress and work on the project will start soon,” said CEO of the hospital Dr. Wilson Aruasa.

Nandi County will have Koitalel Samoei University at Nandi Hills costing more than 20 billion.
